Campbell Soup has announced the appointment of Valerie Oswalt as executive vice president and president of Campbell Snacks, effective March 9, 2020. Oswalt will lead the division that generated approximately $3.8 billion in net sales in fiscal 2019. Oswalt will report to Mark Clouse, Campbell’s president and CEO, and will become a member of the Campbell leadership team and a corporate officer. Oswalt has more than two decades of experience in the snack food industry, leading both large and established brands in senior positions at Kraft Foods and Mondelez, as well as at fast-growing startups.
Oswalt most recently served as CEO of Century Snacks, a privately held trail mix and nut products company, where she led the turnaround of the business with a portfolio of more than 400 branded, private label, and commercial products. Previously, she held the position of president of Mondelez’s North American Confections business. Earlier in her career, she held executive roles, including president of North American sales at Mondelez and vice president, Walmart customer team, coffee, beverage, and grocery, at Kraft Foods Group.
Oswalt earned her MBA in management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and her BA in economics and accounting from Queens College, City University of New York.
In other news, Campbell Soup has appointed Rebecca Gardy as vice president, investor relations, effective March 30, 2020. Gardy will lead the investor relations function and serve as the primary liaison between Campbell and the investment community. Gardy succeeds Ken Gosnell, vice president, finance strategy and investor relations, who in October 2019 announced his plans to retire. To ensure a smooth transition, Gosnell will stay on through April.
Gardy joins Campbell from GreenSky, a financial technology company, where she served as senior vice president, investor relations, public relations, and corporate communications. Previously, she served as investor relations officer for SecureWorks, a Dell Technologies company, and senior director of global investor relations at Nike. Earlier in her career, Gardy held finance and investor relations leadership positions at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Quiznos.
Gardy received her BS in applied economics and business management from Cornell University and her MBA from Emory University.
