CHICAGO – Aug. 6, 2020 – Effective Sept. 1, 2020, Noel Anderson, Ph.D. will become the 81st president of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), a nonprofit scientific institute committed to advancing the science of food and its application across the global food system. Anderson, an IFT Fellow, follows Pam Coleman, MBA, CFS, IFT’s 2019-2020 President.

“Noel previously served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Feeding Tomorrow, IFT’s foundation, and we’re very pleased that he’ll be chairing IFT’s Board of Directors as President for this coming year,” said IFT CEO Christie Tarantino-Dean. “With more than 45 years as an IFT member and broad executive knowledge spanning his professional career, Noel has the ideal experience and passion during such a pivotal time in our organizations’ history.”

Anderson has actively participated in IFT throughout his 45 years of membership and was elected as an IFT Fellow in 2010. He helped establish the Central New Jersey sub-section of IFT, served on the Board of Trustees for Feeding Tomorrow, where he served as a chair, and was an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. In addition, Anderson served on the Fellows Jury, the New Products and Technologies Committee, and was a judge on the Mars Student Product Development competition.

“It is an honor and privilege to lead this association with which I have been actively involved my entire professional career,” said Noel Anderson, Ph.D. “The current crisis provides a unique opportunity to accelerate the transformation of IFT to increase its relevance, value, and engagement with members and external stakeholders. Given the complexity of the global food supply chain and addressing food insecurity, we need to bring together a diverse range of expertise. Our IFT community is uniquely qualified to leverage its knowledge in the science of food to address the significant global challenges the planet is facing.”

Anderson is a life-long R&D professional with experience in product development, quality, and regulatory affairs. Currently, he is Managing Partner of Mosaic Food Advisors, a consultancy that helps food and beverage start-up companies drive sustainable business growth. Previously, Anderson divided his 37-year industrial career between PepsiCo and General Foods/Kraft, working on brands including Pepsi-Cola®, Quaker®, Tropicana®, Jell-O®, and Post® Cereals. He also served as Vice President of Research, Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Kraft Canada. Anderson received three US patents and holds his Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts.
