DENVER – October 4, 2023 – Anna Rosales, Senior Director of Government Affairs and Nutrition at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), will be discussing the critical role food science plays in food and nutrition security at FNCE 2023, the annual Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo hosted by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her session on “Food Science: A Bridge to Nutrition and Security” will be held on Monday, October 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. MDT at the Denver Convention Center in Denver.
FNCE 2023 unites food and nutrition experts, including registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered (NDTRs), researchers, policymakers, health care providers, and industry leaders with a shared focus on the intersection between nutrition, culture, technology, mental and physical health, and modern practice.
In her session, Rosales will highlight how RDNs/NDTRs can collaborate with food science professionals in product development and research, while providing examples of how food science is reducing waste, improving nutrition, and providing a more affordable and accessible food supply.
“Often overlooked and frequently misunderstood, food science plays a critical role in food and nutrition security. When nutrition professionals and food science and technology professionals collaborate, they transform nutrition science concepts to scalable in-market solutions that can help improve food and nutrition security,” said Rosales, a registered dietician with nearly 15 years of experience.
Prior to joining IFT, Rosales served as the director of nutrition and science communications for a global pasta company where she developed its global nutrition and wellbeing strategy. She previously served as the corporate dietician at a probiotics company, as well.
Rosales is one of the most sought-after experts on food nutrition, speaking at prominent food and nutrition events around the world while also participating in some of the most important food events. Last year, Rosales attended the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, sharing her thoughts on the suggested roadmap for combating food insecurity and promoting health in IFT’s Brain Food Blog and this digital exclusive article in Food Technology, the official magazine of IFT.
Those interested in helping bridge the gap between nutrition and security through food science can start that journey by becoming a member of IFT’s science of food community at ift.org/membership.
