Haribo of America, manufacturer of fruit gummy candy and licorice, is planning to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility on newly acquired property in Kenosha County, Wis. The company will invest $242 million in the plant, creating 400 jobs upon the facility’s opening in 2020. Haribo currently has almost 7,000 employees worldwide and produces 100 million gummy bears a day.

“The decision to build a manufacturing facility in Wisconsin is of great importance for the Haribo Group,” said Hans Guido Riegel, managing partner of the Haribo Group. “Haribo of America is the fastest-growing sugar confectionery business in the United States, hence the strategic importance of our manufacturing facility to commence production in 2020.”
