Nepal's Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has shut five more dairies and told people not to consume their products after Coliform, a pathogenic bacterium, was discovered in brands produced by Kharipati Dairy; Sainju Dairy; Bhaktap-ur Dairy; Sanjiwani Dairy; and Adhunik Dairy. The microbe usually appears in milk if it is not stored in a hygienic place and is not processed properly, the department said. It has been in the process of inspecting food outlets, including 14 dairies on June 6-7, finding Coliform traces in most of them. It has already shut Adhunik Dairy and Sanjiwani Dairy.
