Food Ingredient Safety Award in Honor of Bernard L. Oser

Achievement Award Description: To honor a food science professional for contributions to the scientific knowledge of food ingredient safety or leadership in establishing principles for food ingredient safety evaluation or regulation.

Award: $3,000 honorarium and a crystal award from IFT.

Eligibility: The nominee must be a current or former professional in the area of food additive or ingredient safety in an academic, industrial, or government setting. The area of professional involvement can include toxicological research, analytical research, safety or regulatory, associated scientific work in support of food additive and ingredient safety evaluation, and policy development.

Award Criteria: Nominations should include publications or examples in ingredient safety evaluation or leadership in establishing principles for food ingredient safety evaluation or regulation.

Materials to Submit:

  • Nomination Statement (no longer than four typed pages). Nomination statement should include contributions to the scientific knowledge of food ingredient safety or leadership in establishing principles for food ingredient safety evaluation or regulation and reflect award criteria.
  • An attached numbered list of nominee’s publications to be referred to in the nomination statement by these numbers.
  • Letter of Reference that should speak to the Nominee’s scientific knowledge of food ingredient safety or leadership in establishing principles for food ingredient safety evaluation or regulation and reflect award criteria.
