This award honors the work of an individual or team to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the science of food community. This award underscores IFT's commitment to amplifying the voices and efforts of those who are actively working to remove obstacles and create welcoming spaces for all, both within the organization and the broader science of food community, aligning with IFT’s goal of making a positive impact on the global food system.

Award: $5,000 donation to a social justice organization of the recipient’s choice, and a crystal award from IFT

Criteria & Eligibility

Nominees must demonstrate significant contributions that result in one or more of the following:

Improving fairness in food systems by implementing ethical and impactful solutions that combat issues such as food affordability and accessibility, making nutritious food available to a broader population.
Creating processes, policies, and practices that promote an equitable distribution of resources, power, and influence within their company or institution, ensuring fair representation and opportunities for all.
Advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the IFT community, empowering people with different experiences and perspectives to access the opportunities and resources that IFT offers, fostering an environment where innovation and collaboration thrive for the betterment of the global food system.
