CHICAGO – May 21, 2024 – The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), a nonprofit scientific organization with global members spanning academia, government, and industry, is pleased to announce that Darryl Sullivan, Chief Science Officer for Eurofins Scientific, has been selected as a 2024 IFT Fellow, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a member of the science of food community. Being recognized as an IFT Fellow is a unique professional distinction given to an IFT member who has achieved career excellence in addition to providing significant service and leadership to both IFT and the science of food profession.
Specifically, all nominees must demonstrate professional leadership through leading conferences, presentations, and other training and development programs; service and leadership to external advisory committees or boards; ongoing volunteer service to IFT; honors, awards, and other recognition within the science of food profession, as well as advancements to the science of food in industry, academia, government, or related organizations.
This year’s IFT Fellows will be celebrated at the Fellows Recognition Forum at IFT FIRST: Annual Event and Expo, which is being held July 14-17, 2024, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Only 10 IFT members out of more 11,000 received this prestigious recognition this year.
“My membership in IFT has brought me vast exposure to people involved in all aspects of food research and food production,” said Sullivan. “I feel honored to have worked with some of the brightest people in the entire world of food.”
Sullivan joined Eurofins Scientific in Madison, Wisconsin in 2018, beginning as Director of Industry and Regulatory Affairs before quickly being promoted to Chief Scientific Officer. Prior to his current position, he worked for over 40 years at Covance Laboratories, also in Madison, beginning as a Research Scientist and ending his tenure as Director of Industry and Regulatory Affairs. He is considered an international expert in the analysis of infant formula and dietary supplements. For almost 20 years, he has been involved with the Association of Official Analytical Collaboration (AOAC), serving various roles including Secretary, Board Member, and President. He is a delegate to CODEX Alimentarius and actively participates in the Codex Nutrition Committee (CCNFSDU) and the Methods Committee (CCMAS).
