A globally recognized expert in navigating food and nutrition laws, regulations, and policies, he is the principal of consultancy FoodTrition Solutions. His career has spanned government, industry, and academia. He has a PhD in public health policy, planning, and program administration from the University of Maryland, as well as a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in food science and a master’s in education policy from the University of Maryland.

    James Petrie, PhD, is founder and CEO of Nourish Ingredients, a company that uses precision fermentation to create animal-free specialty fats. Before establishing Nourish Ingredients, he spent more than a decade at Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, working as a research scientist as part of the plant oils engineering group. He has degrees from the University of Wollongong and The Australian National University.
