North Carolina State University’s Clint Stevenson Honored with IFT Achievement Award for Excellence in Education

The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is pleased to announce that Clint Stevenson, PhD, Associate Professor at North Carolina State University, has been awarded IFT’s Excellence in Education Award in honor of William V. Cruess, which recognizes an IFT member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching science of food disciplines.

CHICAGO – June 19, 2024 – The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), a nonprofit scientific organization committed to advancing the science of food and its application across the global food system, is pleased to announce that Clint Stevenson, PhD, Associate Professor at North Carolina State University, has been awarded IFT’s Excellence in Education Award in honor of William V. Cruess, which recognizes an IFT member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching science of food disciplines.

To be considered for this award, which is presented in partnership with the Northern California Section of IFT, individuals must have at least 10 years of experience teaching food science and/or food technology at a university.

Stevenson will be honored at the Awards Ceremony & Reception at IFT FIRST: Annual Event and Expo, which is being held July 14-17, 2024, at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Stevenson joined North Carolina State University in 2012, where he serves as an Associate Professor of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences. In addition to teaching, he manages an instructional design lab that creates innovative learning objects and assesses their effectiveness. He also serves as a lead instructor for the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance, the International HACCP Alliance, and the Seafood HACCP Alliance. Prior to North Carolina State, he worked in quality control and assurance at a variety of food companies, including Oscar Meyer, General Mills, and Nestle.

Stevenson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and his master’s degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, before earning his PhD in Food Science from North Carolina State University. He is a member of IFT’s Dogwood Section and resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.
