Institute of Food Technologists Student Association Elects University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Aviva Stein to Board of Directors
CHICAGO – April 4, 2024 – The Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA), a student-governed community of members of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), has elected Aviva Stein from the University of Massachusetts Amherst to its Board of Directors. Stein’s term will start on September 1, 2024, and last for one year.
IFTSA is a mission-driven organization that supports student members and chapters and aims to develop the leaders in the future of the science of food.
A food science major in the UMass Class of 2025, Stein has been involved with the UMass IFTSA Chapter since 2022 starting as an Industry Liaison before serving as the Chapter Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year. Stein will serve as the Chapter President for the 2024-2025 school year. Stein works in the Nolden Sensory Lab, focusing on understanding the mechanism regulating taste response differences in human sweet taste perception.
“I am excited to join the IFTSA Board, getting the opportunity to work with like-minded and driven students from around the world. The science of food is a growing discipline, and I love being able to connect with people no matter what our backgrounds may be. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on board, serving chapters around the country and the world,” said Stein.
As an IFTSA Board Member, Stein will have the opportunity to attend IFT FIRST: Annual Event and Expo, which is being held July 14-17, 2024, at McCormick Place in Chicago. IFT FIRST (Food Improved by Research, Science, and Technology) includes the largest global food science and innovation expo with more than 1,000 exhibitors offering the latest in ingredients, food and food tech trends, food tastings, and exposure to global innovations in food.
