Salsa with a creamy twist
Borden Dairy has launched a new take on salsa that combines fresh salsa flavors with light sour cream, creating a dip that is suitable for a variety of different occasions.
Available in three flavors, Borden Creamy Salsa dipping sauces are made with fresh ingredients to complement snacks and meals. Fire Roasted Creamy Salsa provides a touch of smoky taste, Hot Creamy Salsa balances pepper and spice for a jolt of heat, and Mild Creamy Salsa delivers authentic flavor that makes it the perfect topping for tacos, meatloaf, and other main dishes.
All Borden Creamy Salsa flavors can be found in the dairy aisle at retailers nationwide. The dips come in 12-ounce containers and are available for a suggested retail price of $2.99–$3.49.
Whole grain bowls for toddlers
Gerber has entered the frozen aisle with the launch of three new products from its Freshful Start line, a premium, organic lineup of bowls featuring veggies and whole grains. Designed for toddlers 12 months and up, the bowls are ready to warm and serve in minutes.
“Developed by Gerber’s experts with toddler’s nutrition needs in mind, Freshful Start continues Gerber’s mission to provide key foods and nutrients that many young children fall short on, like calcium and iron,” said Erin Quann, head of Medical Affairs at Gerber/Nestlé Nutrition, in a press release. “Nutritious mealtime options like these new bowls introduce young children to a variety of nutritious foods and beverages, helping establish healthy eating habits from the start.”
Tomato Basil contains 10% daily value of iron in a mix of whole grain pasta, tomatoes, yellow bell peppers, zucchini, and kale. Mac & Cheese is filled with carrot puree, sweet potato puree, and broccoli, and provides 10 grams of whole grains and organic cheddar cheese and 10% daily value of calcium. Southwest Style offers a full serving of veggies from tomatoes, green bell peppers, and black beans, along with 9 grams of whole grains from brown rice and 10% daily value of iron.

A new generation of jerky
Female-founded and family run Jilly’s Jerky uses Slagel Family Farm premium beef and high-quality seasonings to create a unique yet traditionally flavored savory beef jerky snack. Founder Jill Evans LaPenna used her father’s original recipe as a model to create a modern version for the conscientious consumer.
Sliced thin and marinated for 24 hours before dehydrating, Jilly’s Jerky is made in small batches, with each slice cut by hand. The product is currently available at jillysjerky.com in individually sized bags and at specialty retailers. Online prices range from $5.50 to $6, depending on the quantity ordered.
