Organic sauerkraut

Flanagan Farm launched five new flavors of its organic sauerkraut, available in 16-ounce standup pouches. The company harvests cabbage from its organic, family-owned farm in Wisconsin and transports it to the brand’s processing facility in less than 24 hours for fermentation.

“Eating raw, fermented foods is linked to so many health benefits, like an improved immune system, a healthy digestive tract, enhanced nutrient bioavailability, better mental health, and more stable glucose levels,” said Chief Innovation Officer Chris Glab in a press release. “Flanagan Farm krauts offer real health benefits through real, organic food.”

The flavor lineup includes Classic Kraut, Kimchi Kraut, Beet Kraut, Dill Kraut, and Roasted Garlic Kraut. One serving, or two tablespoons, contains between 5 and 10 calories and between 220 mg and 230 mg of sodium. Additionally, the sauerkrauts are kosher, vegan, USDA certified organic, and non-GMO.

Flanagan Farm sauerkraut can be purchased at Walmart or the brand’s website for a suggested retail price of $5 per pouch.

EQUII Rigatoni and Mac & Cheese

Protein-rich pasta

Food tech startup EQUII announced its entry into the boxed pasta category with the launch of Rigatoni and Mac & Cheese.

EQUII uses fermentation to produce protein-rich flour. The brand’s mission is to use traditional fermentation methods with modern product innovation to create products fortified with protein.

“Since the beginning, EQUII has set out to create flour-based foods that people can enjoy without guilt or hesitation,” said cofounder and co-CEO Monica Bhatia in a press release. “The introduction of EQUII Rigatoni and Mac & Cheese to the pasta category allows us to stand out amongst competitors and empower consumers to eat without compromising on the foods they love.”

The Mac & Cheese variety offers 240 calories, 6 grams of fiber, and 19 grams of protein per 2.5-ounce serving. The Rigatoni variety offers 200 calories, 10 grams of fiber, and 28 grams of protein per 2-ounce serving. Both offerings contain all nine essential amino acids to support energy and muscle recovery. The brand has plans to expand its pasta offerings later this year.

EQUII’s Rigatoni and Mac & Cheese are available for purchase on the brand’s website and on Amazon for a suggested retail price of $3.49.
