Remaining an IFT Student Chapter

To provide all IFT Student Association (IFTSA) Chapters with a unified member experience, all chapters must meet the following requirements as the minimum criteria to remain active chapters.

Keeping Your IFT Student Chapter in Good Standing

All existing IFTSA Chapters (both currently active and dormant) have until June 1 each year to supply the following information to IFTSA through three different forms: Chapter Health Tools 1 & 2 and the Officer Report Form. The links to these forms will be shared with the Chapter President and Advisor via email.

  • Name of chapter faculty advisor (must be an active IFT member)
  • Number of active chapter members, including the number of paid IFT student members and non-IFT student members
  • Number of meetings and dates the meetings are held (a minimum of three per year)
  • Participation (or have participated within the past two years) in at least one of the following IFTSA activities or events:
    • IFTSA Area Meeting
    • Chapter Leadership Workshop at the IFT annual event
    • IFTSA Global Summit
    • Contribute to the IFTSA blog
    • Hold an elected or appointed position on the IFTSA Board of Directors
    • Compete in any of the current IFTSA competitions

The deadline for submitting a list of club officers is September 30.

Chapters that fail to meet the deadlines for consecutive years may be subject to chapter termination.

Upon termination, chapters must reapply for approval from both the IFTSA and IFT Boards before they can be recognized as an IFT Student Chapter.

IFTSA provides a roadmap for chapters to use in designing their operations for the year. The IFTSA Chapter Operations Manual can be found in the Chapter Officers Group in IFT Connect along with a host of other resources and tools.

Can’t find a resource? Contact the VP of Chapter Engagement or Stephanie Walaszek.

While not a requirement, we hope you will also submit to the Chapter of the Year program each year and tell us about the great things your chapter has done. Details and requirements can be found on the Chapter of the Year page.

Looking for Chapter Leaders Workshop? This year, we host virtual workshops every two months.

For more information, contact the VP of Chapter Engagement or Stephanie Walaszek.
