Pasta fashioned from veggies
Birds Eye
has created a new line of 100% vegetable pastas that provide a healthy alternative to starchier side dishes. Veggie Made Pastas feature vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, and lentils that are made into pasta dough in much the same manner that regular pasta is made.

“It’s a guilt-free way to enjoy the comforts of pasta with a full serving of vegetables, without having to boil water or clean pots, making it an easy choice to include in holiday recipes or any meal,” says Risa Cretella, vice president of marketing for Birds Eye.

Veggie Made Pasta comes in spinach lentil flavor with alfredo sauce, or in zucchini lentil flavor with marinara or cheddar sauce or plain. The pastas can be found nationwide in the frozen food aisle at a suggested retail price of $3.49 for a 10-ounce package.

Tart cherries get juiced
Stoneridge Orchards
has introduced a new liquid twist on its popular dried Montmorency cherries, Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate. Each bottle contains up to 1,000 individual cherries, providing a rich source of the fruit’s natural nutrients. All ingredients in the drink are natural, non-GM, and gluten-free.

The Montmorency tart cherry is abundant in anthocyanins, a natural flavonoid compound that contributes to the ruby-red color and distinctive sour-sweet taste. The fruit has become the source of over 50 studies that support its health benefits, including its anti-inflammatory properties, and use as a natural sleep aid and regulator of the immune system.

The Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate will be available to consumers in select U.S. markets through the company’s retailer network for a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 16-ounce bottle of the all-natural juice and $11.99 for the organic juice.

Gum boosted with caffeine
Mars Wrigley Confectionery
recently launched a caffeinated gum, positioned as a portable alternative to energy drinks, coffee, and soda. Available in Mint or Fruit, Alert Caffeine Gum provides 40 mg of caffeine per serving, about the same as a half cup of coffee.

Research shows that one of the top reasons people chew gum is to stay awake, and the boost provided by the addition of caffeine meets this need. Alert Caffeine Gum is for adults and is not intended for children, pregnant and nursing women, and people sensitive to caffeine.

The gum is available in an eight-pack for a suggested retail price of $2.49.
