Feeding Tomorrow Fund of IFT Opens Scholarship Applications for Students Pursuing Science of Food Careers
CHICAGO – February 2, 2023 – The Feeding Tomorrow Fund of Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) today announced that applications are now open for more than 40 undergraduate scholarships and 25 graduate scholarships. The Feeding Tomorrow Fund of IFT encourages, promotes, and rewards the excellence of students pursuing careers in the science of food through various efforts including a variety of academic tuition scholarships.
New this year, the Feeding Tomorrow Fund will offer scholarship awards for students with specific criteria such as greatest financial need, those transferring from a community college, and first-generational college enrollment. The Gateway Program scholarship awards will also continue this year, which removes the restriction that students must attend IFT Higher Education Review Board (HERB) approved programs.
“Through the Feeding Tomorrow Fund, IFT raises awareness and interest in the science of food as a career path and builds a diverse pipeline of new talent to meet the food challenges of today and in the future. The academic scholarships awarded by the Feeding Tomorrow Fund is an important way we are celebrating and supporting those future food-science leaders and expanding IFT’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Feeding Tomorrow Fund Executive Director Kate Dockins.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the science of food profession, which can include, but is not limited to, membership in IFT. Student members receive access to a variety of tools that will help them on their science of food journeys, including being able to download the recently released Compensation & Career Path Report free of charge. The report features comprehensive data on the compensation and career trends of professionals for a range of job titles and functions across multiple segments of the food industry, academia, government, and nonprofits.
The application deadline for both undergraduate and graduate scholarships is April 14, 2023. The first-year (freshman) application opens on February 8, 2023, and will close on June 15, 2023.
